Orthodontists order orthodontic products to help their patients treat overbites, underbites, crossbites, open bites, teeth spacing, teeth crowding, or a misplaced midline. As each patient comes with a unique issue, orthodontic treatment has to be carefully planned and tailored to their needs. For this reason, there are several types of appliances designed to treat specific cases.

Our Orthodontic Products

Depending on an individual case that needs to be treated, a dental professional may opt for a specific type of orthodontic retainer. Some of the most popular orthodontic products at Pindan Dental Clinic include:

  1. Hawley retainer – A plastic plate that curves to the roof of the mouth which cannot be visible from the front. It is usually prescribed after the patient has already worn braces to keep the teeth aligned. The retainer is easily adjustable to fit the patient’s mouth and can offer high levels of comfort. They are durable but should anything happen, a Hawley retainer can be repaired.
  2. Begg retainer – Like Hawley retainer, it is prescribed to patients who have just removed their braces. It is designed to maintain teeth alignment and as such benefits the braces treatment. It is made from acrylics and the wire that wraps around the front teeth. It can be easily removed and cleaned and is more rigid in comparison to other retainer solutions.
  3. Space maintainer – Can be made either of acrylic or metal and can be either removable or fixed. They are commonly prescribed for children who lose their primary teeth early and risk teeth misalignment. This particular orthodontic product is created to keep the space open for the permanent tooth to come into place. A space maintainer can in some cases help prevent orthodontic treatment.
  4. Lingual retainer – This orthodontic retainer is used to maintain the proper position of the anterior teeth. They are usually made of stainless steel to form a wire that connects the back surfaces of the anterior teeth. Like other types of retainers, it is used to benefit the results of the previous orthodontic treatment and maintain proper alignment.
